7 Outstanding Apps That Pay You To Exercise

  • Summary:

When I was a bit younger I would have given anything to have an array of outstanding apps that pay you to exercise.

I was essentially a bit of a lazy git when I was younger and would do anything to avoid exercise. My preferred method of exercise was lifting a beer to my mouth or using my hands on my Playstation controller.

Once I hit my 40’s I realized that I didn’t need to necessarily have a ripped body. I did want to be fitter and have a healthier heart so I started running in my spare time and although I still dont love it, I can’t go more than 3 days without needing to put on my trainers and go for a 5 or 10km run.

If these exercise apps had been available when I was younger and I knew they paid you to get off your ass and move then I probably would have started running or at the very least walking more.

There are so many apps that pay you to exercise. There are even apps that pay you to walk that now that you have no excuse to move more.

I have tried most of them at one time or another, burning calories walking and running. Please dont worry if your not a runner and super fit as you dont have to be. They are just designed to help you start moving more.

Below I am going to go through some of the better ones out there and discuss there pro’s and cons.

Achievement:

Achievement app is a free downloadable app available on both android and the Apple store. It has had over 3 million downloads and is one of the better apps out there.

You can use the Achievement app in conjunction with over 20 health apps. These include apps such as Strava, Samsung health, apple health, and Fitbit.

Achievement app will pay you for steps accomplished, heart rate tracked and loads of other activities.

You earn points and can then trade in 10,000 points for $10 which can be payable directly to your bank or PayPal.

An added bonus is you can also participate in online research and surveys to earn extra cash and of course, do your bit.

Dietbet:

Dietbet is a very unique way of losing weight and getting fit.

With Dietbet You are essentially playing against other members. You set your goals of weight loss or similar goals. If you achieve your goals you split the pot of cash in that particular group.

There are loads of groups to join or you can participate in more than one.

There will be weigh-in rules that Dietbet will ask that you adhere to. You will also have to weigh yourself before and after the challenge. They will need proof so no tricking your way through this, unfortunately, you have to put in the hard work.

If you are looking for apps that pay you to exercise then this goes the extra mile by making you wager against yourself.

Sweatcoins:

Sweatco is the company behind Sweatcoins. This is a great app that pays you to walk or run. It is essentially a step counter and can work in tandem with some of your normal step apps.

Sweatco work with over 300 partners to make sure you can use sweatcoins you have earned to purchase all types of goods. These can include amongst others grooming kits to socks to high definition television screens to holidays.

The team at sweatco is also working hard to make sweatcoins a legitimate digital currency. This could mean that in the not too distant future sweatcoins could be a truly digital currency.

When this is the case I would suggest storing your sweatcoins and not spending them until the value rises on the market.

Healthywage:

Like Dietbet, Healthywage is another app that makes you set goals. You can then wager against yourself and other members when you hit that goal. If you hit it within a certain amount of time you win a cash prize.

You simply enter into the Healthywage calculator the number of pounds you wish to lose and the timescale in which you will complete this challenge.

You also set the amount of money you wish to wager on the bet. When you win you win more than the amount you have wagered and the calculator will tell you the range of money you can win.

With Healthywage You simply verify your weight before you start and again near the end of your goal time. If you have hit the target then you get paid. You can ask for more time but this costs extra. You can still turn a profit even with adding more time.

It’s a great way to just add a little more motivation to your daily workouts. It can also help you achieve a goal you probably had in your mind before you signed up for Healthywage.

Charity Miles:

Charity Miles is exactly what it says it is. You earn money for either running, walking, dancing or cycling. This is then donated to a charity of your choice which you will have picked at the beginning when you sign up.

It’s a free download from the app stores. Sign up, select the charity you would like donations to go to then get moving. You can even get friends to sponsor you.

The app uses your GPS on your phone to work out how much mileage you have done. You then get to feel pride in the fact that not only have you increased your fitness but you have also done a good deed for a charity close to your heart.

StepBet:

Stepbet is very similar to a lot of these fitness apps now in that you are essentially betting that you can reach a certain goal. You pay a bet then if you reach your goal you receive your bet money back plus extra. If you dont hit your goal you will lose your bet money.

Losing your initial bet is enough to get most people motivated. You can either sync one of the many fitness trackers or you can just use your smartphones built-in step counter to track your progress.

Most games are around $40 to participate and can last for several weeks. If you achieve your goals then you can split the pot with other winners. This will lead to you making more than your initial bet.

Map My Fitness:

If you are into running or thinking of beginning to run then MapMyfitness is a great fitness app that is similar to map my run app or the map my walk app. It is run by Under Armour.

Map my fitness awards monthly prizes to some of their best performers and there is even a yearly prize which is pretty special.

As well as the prizes you can link the app to certain Under armour running trainers should you own any and this will track stride length and cadence and all manner of other technical running statistics.

Summary:

I think that if you need to make a change to your lifestyle and get a bit fitter then you dont need an app to help you do that, you should just want to do that for you and your loved ones.

However what better way to get a little bit of initial motivation than to be able to earn some money doing just that.

Sweatcoins by the sweatco company was one of the best apps that pay you to exercise.

Apps like sweatcoin are always going to earn you money especially if you use them daily.

Whichever one works for you is the one you should stick with. Dont try to mix more than one as it could throw you off and ruin your progress. No matter how you decide to keep fit I wish you all the best of luck as only you can do something about your fitness and health.
