Welcome to my 6TH Month blog Income report & growth. I have made these blogger income reports from day one, not only to keep myself headed towards my financial goals but also for you guys to read and hopefully gain something from, but also for myself so I can look back and see the areas I need to concentrate on.

When I started out with this blog I was looking at other blog income reports and came across Michelle Schroeder-Gardner. She runs a great Personal Finance blog called Making sense of Cents. You can find her blog Income report here

However as amazing as Michelle has done with her blog and as much as it gives me motivation, I was looking for blog growth & income reports from beginners to see how it was going to be at the beginning of my blogging journey. It turned out there wasn’t that many. The ones I did find were a good mix of honesty, hard work, mistakes, and learning.

So to that end, I’m am going to try and be as transparent as possible so as you readers out there see not only my successes but also my failures.

Also if your new to this blog and would like to read any of my other blog Income reports then you can find all those reports here.

Also If you would like to subscribe and see these reports as soon as I publish them then you can do that here or on the main menu from the dropdown.

Some of my posts may contain affiliate links. This simply means if you purchase something after clicking one of the links I may receive a commission at no extra cost to yourself. Many thanks for the continued support.

6th month blog income report and growth

My Half Year Landmark

So we are at the 6 month period already. It’s like I only started last week and I still have so much to learn. This month I have managed to schedule the next 4 articles. This has freed up the time for me to start to create a slightly better Opt-in for my subscribers.

My Opt-In is now a much better pdf download for people that subscribe. Hopefully, this increases my subscribers over the next couple of months. I am also trying to implement an image of the download onto the front page of my blog.

Speaking of subscribers I have spent some time conversing with a much more experienced blogger in Ling at www.finsavvypanda.com. Ling is an amazing money blogger and has given me some very valuable advice over the last few weeks. Hop on over to her page as she has some very valuable money advice over there.

Articles:

So as I said at the beginning I scheduled 4 articles so I haven’t actually done much writing this month. I have been concentrating on finishing my Opt-In which im pretty pleased with. Go and subscribe by the way if you want a free Simple budget planner to download and edit.

Traffic:

Google analytics screenshot

So as you can see above I only managed around 818 views for the month. This is down a bit but I dont think this is going to increase until I start to rank higher for some of my keywords. This will happen though I just need to be patient.

I’m pleased with the bounce rate. Also average session duration which shows people are actually reading my posts and new users is a decent metric this month as well.

Social Media:

Twitter:

17 followers which is the same amount as last month. I wouldn’t expect any different as I dont really interact too much on Twitter.

Facebook:

So my Facebook group keeps growing every month. It did slow down somewhat this month as it grew from 67 to 77, so 10 more members this month. Feel free to join up to my money group here .

Pinterest:

Since purchasing my first course from Ana at Thesheapproach.com my Pinterest has started to flourish. I’m learning new skills such as creating images and how to layout my profile etc and it seems to be working.

Home page of my Pinterest account for earningsportal.com

As you can see from the above screenshot my Pinterest monthly unique views have risen from 39.8k to 54k this month. I know this doesn’t mean a great deal in the grand scheme of things but it shows improvement for me.

Pinterest account analytics

Above is my favorite image from Pinterest this month. It shows a percentage rise in all my analytic stats and I believe this is down to the skills I have learned and applied from Ana’s Ebook. See more at the end of this post if you are interested.

My pinterest account showing amount of followers

I started the month on 815 followers and am now at 922 so a good rise of over 100 extra followers this month.

Changes Made:

So as I said at the beginning I have implemented some of my Pinterest course instructions and it has started to improve my Pinterest results. I have also finished my new Opt-In. As well as this I have purchased some Canva designs specifically for Pinterest and now I have some good branded images going forward.

Income/Financial Goals

This has been a bit hit and miss this month as my views have dropped which means so have my figures. I didn’t have any financial goals in mind when I started my blog, although I do now have some for the future which I’m not quite ready to share with you guys yet.

This month I made around 2cents from Media-net which was poor, however, more recently I joined up with Fomo which is a new ad network which pays you for impressions and not just clicks. I have made around 60cents in a week which is better than Media-net is getting me at the moment. I can see my financial goals getting closer with this ad Network as the views increase.

UPDATE: Unfortunately Fomo is closing due to not enough interest from advertisers. This is a shame as lots of new bloggers such as myself were just being signed up to this Ad network with great potential. As with some things in life though it wasn’t meant to be and I will continue onwards with Media-Net until such time as my traffic improves.

I’m hoping in the next couple of months my keywords will start to bring me organic traffic. This will help with advertising revenue and also potentially affiliate revenue.

Goals:

My goals for August were as follows.

Grow Email list: Well I did but only by one, However, my new Opt-in is a big plus this month.

Reach 1000 followers on Pinterest. Fail I did grow quite a bit but not enough to hit 1000, Should do this month.

Hit 90 members in my facebook group. Fail I did get 10 more but not quite enough and still haven’t worked out what to do with my loyal members at the moment.

Reach 13000 total views on my blog. Fail im at 12185 so not too far off.

Start to implement the ideas in Ana’s Pinterest Ebook: Pass I’m implementing and seeing results.

Continue to work hard on Seo. Pass I have now gone through and made every older article SEO Friendly. Hopefully these will start to rank for new keywords in the coming months.

AFFILIATES:

So my list of affiliates is growing and I can’t wait to add more and start to implement them more. I will list some of them below.

If you are looking to start a blog and are unsure whether to self-host or use a third party site then I can assure you, self-hosted is the only way to really be able to monetize your site in the future. A well-monetized site can help you hit all the financial goals you may have.

Siteground is who I use and they have helped me loads with any issues that have cropped up. Click below to look at their self-hosting plans that start at really reasonable prices.

Web Hosting

Studiopress offers some great paid themes to make your new blog really stand out from the crowd. I personally use one of their themes and find them very easy to work with.

As I said at the start of this article I mentioned that I had just made my first purchase in regards to a blog course. This was the great E-Book by Ana over at ThesheApproach.com. It is a book on learning how to use Pinterest and how to grow your blog using this popular medium.

I am 2 chapters in and already making some great changes. If you are looking to boost your Pinterest Profile then check out Ana’s E-book here. Below is the code to get a massive discount off of all Ana’s great books. If im getting results from just the Pinterest one, Imagine what you could do with the others.

If you want to achieve any kind of growth or want to hit certain financial goals with your blog then you are going to need to invest a little cash into it in order for your blog to grow. Dont be scared just commit to your blog as I have done with mine. Ana’s course above didn’t cost a great deal but it was still a financial decision I took that is already benefiting me and my blog.

For the first time, I am going to set No Goals for September!! My aim is to see if I do just as well without Goals or to see if setting goals indeed help me with moving my blog forwards. I have certain financial goals I wish to hit in the next year or even 2 years and my blog needs growth to do that. Let’s see what September brings.

It is very inspiring to have written your goals in a post, I don’t think I could share that myself. Congratulations on all your success and your Pinterest followers -that is amazing!

Keep moving forward. Your blog looks great. You have ideas moving forward. And the perfect topics. It takes so long, from what I hear, to make progress. It’s a marathon, not a sprint, right. I appreciate your honesty, it helps to know we are all in this together.

Half a year already! Keep up the great work. I’ve considered doing the same and not setting goals for a month. I feel like I usually don’t reach my goals anyway, ha!

How many of your Pinterest stats are from paid promotion? I will be looking into those books as well. Have you made any money from affiliate or just doing the ads on your site. Good work and look forward for more!
