Welcome to my 5TH Month blog Income report & growth. I have made these blogger income reports from day one, not just for you guys to read and hopefully gain something from, but also for myself so I can look back and see the areas I need to concentrate on.
When I started out with this blog I was looking at other blog income reports and came across Michelle Schroeder-Gardner. She runs a great Personal Finance blog called Making sense of Cents. You can find her blog Income report here
However as amazing as Michelle has done with her blog and as much as it gives me motivation, I was looking for blog growth & income reports from beginners to see how it was going to be at the beginning of my blogging journey. It turned out there wasn’t that many. The ones I did find were a good mix of honesty, hard work, mistakes, and learning.
So to that end, I’m am going to try and be as transparent as possible so as you readers out there see not only my successes but also my failures.
Also if your new to this blog and would like to read any of my other blog Income reports then you can find all those reports here.
Also If you would like to subscribe and see these reports as soon as I publish them then you can do that here or on the main menu from the dropdown.
Some of my posts may contain affiliate links. This simply means if you purchase something after clicking one of the links I may receive a commission at no extra cost to yourself. Many thanks for the continued support.
Ok, we need to slow this year down, where the hell are all the months going. Just as I get into a rhythm of writing and making progress I notice it’s like the 30th of the month and I need to write these reports.
So have I had any big wins this month, Well yes and no. The biggest win was when my little blog jumped in the latest Moz update from a DA of 3 to 8!!. I was so pleased. That’s such a big jump and I’m very happy. In fact, no matter how the rest of the month went that has trumped it all I’m afraid.
As usual, I managed an article every week and even managed to get a couple of weeks ahead of myself which allowed me to concentrate on other blog related learning which I will tell you about later.
All the articles were a good length and had the SEO on point. I’m currently ranking on 25 keywords and am looking to at least double that in the next week or so.
Traffic has been steady, Ive been averaging around 100 views per day from 30-40 visits and am hoping this increases as I rank for more and more keywords and in a higher position as well.
Most of my traffic isn’t that organic and I thought you should know. It will become more and more organic as the blog grows and starts ranking for those keywords but for now, I’ll take it.
Excuse all the tabs open it is a habit that makes me feel uncomfortable but I can’t do anything about it. I’m Using Google analytics as it provides the most accurate charting available. As you can see I had nearly 3000 page views and 1141 sessions. This is about average for me but I’m hoping it improves.
I’m pretty pleased with not only the bounce rate but also the average session duration. It shows that people are actually reading my posts, or at the very least skimming them.
The same amount as last month which is 17 followers, I dont use Twitter really, I occasionally retweet the odd thing but vary rarely do I tweet anything from my Earningsportal account.
My humble little facebook page has jumped the last few months and has been growing at a slow but steady rate. Last month we had 52 followers which were great. This month we are sitting at 67, so another 15 members. I’m pretty pleased with that.
I just put up my latest posts at the moment but have some ideas in the pipeline to let my followers benefit from.
This is the big one for me and the numbers are as follows.
As you can see from above I have nearly 40k monthly unique views which doesn’t seem to fluctuate too much and seems to have now settled at that sort of figure. Not for long though!!!. I have something up my sleeve. My monthly engaged also has stayed around the same which is around the 1000 mark.
You may also notice that my profile picture has changed. this is in part thanks to me purchasing my very first E-book. Ana from TheSheApproach.com has a great E-Book about how to get the most from Pinterest as a platform and it has some great reviews amongst the blogging community. Seeing as it was super cheap and comes with over 170 pages of other-worldly knowledge it seemed like the smart thing to do.
If you are struggling with Pinterest and are looking to use it as a platform to build your blog then please trust me when I say I’m only one chapter in and already making changes. Sign up to get Ana’s Incredible Pinterest E-Book
My follower count is up from last months number of 643 followers to 815 which I believe could be the biggest month so far in terms of new followers. I realize that doesn’t mean a lot though.
So as you saw above my first purchase when it comes to blogging courses. Its a big step but it was a small amount of money and if you are going to invest money then who better to invest it in than you!!. I heard that somewhere and it sounded pretty cool.
I have been going back and doing SEO to my older articles which hopefully means in a couple of months they might start ranking for keywords.
Other than that I have also been creating a new Opt-In for my subscribers. If you haven’t already subscribed then shame on you, Stop what you are doing and subscribe now then return, please. The new Opt-In will take some time as I’m doing it around writing and also its a new process for me so make take a few more weeks. That’s about it for this month though.
A little down on last month but at the small figures, we are talking about I’m not too disheartened If anything I’m buoyed by the fact that many bloggers who are well established have said my blog is heading in the right direction so for now that is good enough for me.
I earned $0.78. A pittance really but my main focus is on growing my email list and also bringing more organic traffic, Once this happens that figure should grow.
No affiliate sales as of yet but I am slowly adding to my list of affiliates which I shall post at the end of this article.
My goals for July were as follows:
Hit 9000 total views on my blog (Success I hit 9831, So close to 10,000 views)
Hit 65,000 total unique monthly views on Pinterest (Fail, It fluctuates around 40k)
Hit 75 members on my Facebook group and look at ways to offer freebies. (Fail I’m at 67 members which I’m happy with and I have started to look at ways of offering freebies to those members)
Grow Email subscribers to 20 (Fail I’m at 18 and although looking at a new Opt-in I’m struggling to find ways to get more. Although I must admit I dont promote enough. The new Opt-in should help)
Reach 800 Followers on Pinterest. (Success, I’m at 815 followers) Not sure I’m going to continue with this goal though as it isn’t that important.
Sort out Amazon affiliation and payment details (Fail, I knew I was forgetting something.)
Chase up Pending affiliate on Awin (Success and Fail Chased them up but have been rejected)
Look at creating a printable PDF to help subscribers with organizing their finances. Nothing too fancy just simple yet effective. (Part success, I have started to create something.)
They were my goals for July and I will create some more for August, However, I’m thinking my goals may have changed slightly so dont be surprised to see new ones.
Goals For August
Grow Email List. No Numbers here. I’m just looking for decent growth and new ways to learn how to get that growth.
Reach 1000 followers on Pinterest, I know followers doesn’t matter too much but 1000 is a big number so would like to work towards hitting that.
Hit 90 members in my facebook group and continue building freebies for them.
Reach 13000 total views on my blog.
Start to implement the new ideas I’m learning in Ana’s Pinterest E-Book.
Continue to work hard on SEO for my site including in-depth keyword research.
That’s it. A few different goals for this month and we shall see how we get on.
So my list of affiliates is growing and I can’t wait to add more and start to implement them more. I will list some of them below.
If you are looking to start a blog and are unsure whether to self-host or use a third party site then I can assure you, self-hosted is the only way to really be able to monetize your site in the future.
Siteground is who I use and they have helped me loads with any issues that have cropped up. Click below to look at their self-hosting plans that start at really reasonable prices.
Studiopress offers some great paid themes to make your new blog really stand out from the crowd, I personally use one of their themes and find them very easy to work with.
If you have been reading my blog for a while you will have realized that matched betting is my specialty and it is one of the best side-hustles out there to make you potentially hundreds of pounds per month.
As mentioned at the start of this article I mentioned that I had just made my first purchase in regards to a blog course. This was the great E-Book by Ana over at ThesheApproach.com It is a book on learning how to use Pinterest and how to grow your blog using this popular medium. I am only the first chapter in and already making some great changes so if you are looking to boost your Pinterest Profile then check out Ana’s E-book here.
