Creating Crafts That Make Money
So how do you go about making money from crafts and where do you start?
When I was researching some of the best ways to make money online a few years back as I needed a bit of a financial boost I came across a massive list of 200 or more crafts that make money.
I could not believe my eyes. As anyone who knows me, I am not the most creative person going but a lot of these crafts can be made very cheaply and easily by anyone (Me Included) and there does seem to be a good market for people to start selling crafts online.
Firstly you are going to need a little time to do your research and also to create your craft. I hope by reading this list you will get some ideas and it will get your creative juices flowing.
Making crafts that make money will be ideally suited to someone that is not working a full-time job so stay at home moms are in an ideal position to start this small business idea.
Also, students and retired people are also ideally suited. Basically, anyone with a couple of hours a day to create the crafts to sell.
Where Can I Sell My Crafts?
This is important as you can have all the creative skills in the world and you could have created some of the most practical and beautiful crafts but if you have nowhere to sell them then you are going to be out of luck.
There are several places you can sell your crafts and luckily you don’t even need to leave your house and sell at dawn in some muddy boot sale.
An Etsy store is perfect for you to sell your crafts. Etsy is a little bit of an eclectic store whereby people tend to go when looking for homemade products.
This is good news as it means it is the perfect place to sell your homemade crafts.
Having an Etsy shop is free but of course, there are listing fees much like eBay. There is a 20 pence listing fee plus a percentage of the final sale value. Other than that the rest of the money and profit is yours.
Etsy is perfect for you to start selling your crafts due to the low cost and ease of getting them listed.
A more expensive but more professional option is to start a Shopify store. You can get a 14-day free trial where you can navigate your way around and build your own store using the Shopify E-commerce and website drag and drop builders.
After the 14 days trial, you have 3 options which start at $30 per month and go all the way up to $300 per month. These options do come with 24-7 help if needed. The paid accounts also come with Shopify payments, fraud analysis and lots of other help to see your online craft business thrive.
You can start your own blog and sell your handmade crafts there. Starting a blog is daunting and there is loads to learn but if you are after full control over the creation and sale of your crafts then maybe a blog is for you.
If you are unsure of how to proceed then I have written a guide on how to start a blog. It should help you get started and then once you are up and running you can add an e-commerce section to your site to start getting those craft sales.

I must admit this is something I have become a bit obsessed with. Im not particularly good at it but I get involved with watching way too many Youtube videos of people building flower planters.

Now some jewellery is easier to make than others so if you are looking for profitable crafts then I would stick to simple jewellery such as bracelets made from material.
